Un cirque tout juste
"Un cirque tout juste, un succès tout plein."
L'Union 15.6.2002

Under a small circus tent, light from rusty lamps guides us to the ring of a small circus tent. An old wooden floor creaks, a lamp swings to the rhythm of an accordion, a record player rasps. Slowly but surely, time flows by.

This small-scale, warmly nostalgic contemporary circus performance is the first part in the solo trilogy of the France-based juggler Jani Nuutinen. Nuutinen's subtle work goes beyond traditional virtuosity. He uses mundane objects that he has built himself. The audience do not know what to expect but venture out to uncharted waters with the performer. The wooden ring brings the audience close to the performer - Un cirque tout juste catches the intimate atmosphere of circus campfires.
